Adding your NUS/SMU email into Gmail
- Go to “Settings”
- Go to the “Accounts and import” Tab
- Click “Add POP3 email account”
- A window will pop out. Type in your school email address. Click next
- Type in your SMU/NUS username (i.e. daniel.tsou.2009 or u1234567) and your password
- For POP server, type in (for SMU: pop.smu.edu.sg, for NUS: pop.nus.edu.sg).
- Choose Port 995 for SMU and Port 25 for NUS
- Uncheck “leave a copy of retrieved message on the server” if you don’t want to leave your emails in your school inbox anymore
- Check “Always use a secure connection” if you’re from SMU. Make sure it’s unchecked if you’re from NUS.
- Check “Label incoming messages:” and make a new label to identify your emails.
- Uncheck “Archive incoming messages” and click “Add Account”
- Once your account has been added successfully, you’ll have the option of setting it as a custom From address. This allows you to compose messages in Gmail, but have them appear to be sent from your other email account. Click Yes to set up a custom From address.
- Once that is done, go back to the settings page in the “Accounts and Import” tab.
- Look for your school email under the “Send mail as” section and click “edit info”
- In the new window, click “Next Step”
- Choose the “Send through sth sth sth SMTP servers”
- For SMTP Server, type “smtp.gmail.com” and choose port 465. (I know it seems silly here, but this makes sure that the recipient in your school does not see your gmail address but your school address when you email them, and it works)
- Type your GMAIL username and your GMAIL password in the respective fields
- Check the box “Always use a secure connection”
- Save Changes and you’re done!
THANKS ALOT.
